So, I'm transferring to UC Irvine this fall and had a quick question.
I always hear stats like "UCI is the 14th ranked public university in the nation" or something similar to that. I've always wanted to put that number into perspective but always run into problems finding the statistics I want.
I want to know how many PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES there are in the United States. I'm not interested in knowing how many private universities or state universities there are. I'm primarily interested in knowing just the number of ranked public universites there are so I can know that UCI is 14 out of 200 ranked universities in the nation or something like that. And then maybe I'd be interested in knowing how many ranked private universities there are afterwards.
Thanks for listening. This question has been bugging me for a while and hopefully it can finally be resolved. :)

More than 64 since there are multiples of the same rank.

Oh, nice! Very helpful. Thanks! I thought there were a lot more. Doesn’t sound as prestigious as I initially thought though.

Are there stats on how many ranked private universities there are in the US? or how many unranked colleges there are like UC Merced.
