where did u find those im blue?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if UCLA's upcoming class of 2009 has a higher average SAT I and SAT II Writing/Math scores than UCB... the gap has already closed to 4 points and 1 point/1 point respectively... all that's needed is for UCLA's rising trend to continue...

You have to understand that the UC's use best SINGLE SITTING for SAT, while Ivy Leagues use Best Math + Best Verbal score. This means you have to add 40-50 points to the UC average to make it equal to private schools.

Two cookies to im_blue for having the smarts and initiative to track down data.

"1. ucb (better research than ucla)

Cal Poly is only good for Engineering. Their other programs are not that great. I would place them bellow UCI and SB for overall.

"engineering puts ucb at the top followed by ucsd and slo, with ucla behind those, however; the uc system is much stronger among graduate degrees, and ucla or slo would be the best undergrad choices to keep ucb and ucsd open for grad school -- they wont let you continue your education at the same uc from bs to ms"

For Engineering I would place UCLA above Cal:Poly. Also not all engineering programs are the same. For ME and AE I would place UCLA at number 1.

Shtiitakiri = liar (one of the lies was he "heard this year, you need 1500 to get into UCLA--BULL*****) = "StanfordAlum82" when he's actually a UCLA alum. LOL!

Also, you can't apply to a UC if your GPA is below a 3.0

"The salient point is that UCI/UCD/UCSB are so close that it's sillier than usual to make a decision based on selecitivity instead of looking at other factors of "fit." "

i have to agree with that statement that TheDad made. i think for the most part, the schools below berkeley, ucla, and ucsd are much more regional, as in northern californians tend to apply to davis or santa cruz in addition to the big 2 or 3, while southern californians may turn to ucsb or uci or ucr. a majority of the students who did not get admitted to berkeley, ucla, or ucsd then turn to their regional choice. thus because the quality of students are very similar (all good but may not have made the top 3) and because UCD generally doesnt compete with UCI for the same students, you can almost see a parity between the rest of the UC schools.

"Cal Poly is only good for Engineering. Their other programs are not that great. I would place them bellow UCI and SB for overall."- VTboy

Not true. Cal Poly's best programs are architecture, computer science, and graphic design. Then comes the highly touted engineering programs. Architecture is usually rated as #2-3 in the nation in rankings by professionals in the field.
