I understand that the UC campuses say that they do not accept letters of recommendation (i.e. from teachers or facilitators), but would it be beneficial to send one to them? If so, how do you send one to them?
On a second note, I understand that some of the UC campuses actually require recommendation letters as part of a supplemental application review. Which of the UCs require said letters?
You will receive a request from the UC’s if your application is under supplemental review and what documents need to be sent including LOR’s. You need to wait until you receive a request. In case of an appeal you want to keep the LOR’s handy.
So just to clarify, you say it would be beneficial to hold onto those LOR’s incase of an appeal, and that colleges won’t accept them unless your app. is under supplemental review?
UC Berkeley first said that sending up to two letters of recommendation would be optional as a new policy. Now they say, “In April 2015, UC Berkeley adopted a new freshman admission policy. Starting in fall 2015, some applicants to UC Berkeley will be invited to submit two letters of recommendation. This will be optional and not required.”
It is not clear how many people will be asked compared to the supplemental review of previous years.
@honcho: Yes hold onto the LOR’s just in case you are asked for them due to supplemental review or if applying UCB, you are asked for them later in the application review process or if you end up appealing.
