i was accepted into uci and i just submitted my SIR two days ago. I would have accepted it earlier but I was, to say the least, scared. I’m currently struggling with my ap physics 1 class and it doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to bring my D up to a C. We’re taking our finals this week, and just went over our MC and although I didn’t get an F, I got a D. the frq are tomorrow and friday and i already know how it’ll go… i don’t know why this class is so difficult for me to pick up. i chose the class because i felt the ap bio class was too easy, but I’ve regretted this wrong decision ALL year. i managed to get a C for first semester but barely. i think this final will be my demise and I’m not sure if uci will rescind me. this class is definitely not what i will be majoring in but i took it out of interest and curiosity. i already finished my a-g requirement for laboratory sciences last year, and I’m not sure how this D in my ap physics 1 class will affect my acceptance.
i already emailed admissions but haven’t heard back yet. i tried the message center but they didn’t provide me with an answer regarding mh acceptance. i don’t want to get rescinded because I’ll feel like all of my hard work these 4 years will be gone from this one elective class that isn’t even part of my a-g or what I’ll be majoring in. we still have a final project but those aren’t easy either. I’ve been planning on talking to my teacher about ways to bring up my grade but I’m afraid. I’ve only talked to my teacher several times throughtout the year. the class makes me feel stupid and from my terrible test scores, my teacher most likely thinks i havent tried all year, so I’m afraid to ask him about ways to bring up my grade.
i talked a lot but basically will this elective science class affect my acceptance from uci? the rest of my classed are As but it’s just this one class that I am truly struggling in.
Rule of thumb for UCI is you need to maintain a 3.0 weighted GPA, no D’s or F’s Senior year. Each student will be evaluated on a case by case basis and UCI will not give you an answer until they see your final transcript. All I can say is work your hardest to get that final grade up to a C- so you are not in danger of being rescinded.

@Suzzypzm i ended the year with a C in physics, and no i haven’t received a reply from UCI, but my Transcript is checked off.
