@StoneTower I just looked at your picture about fafsa and it says you will get $24,559 without taking any loans per year. That should cover tutition plus housing shouldn’t it? Also where did you find this info/page?? I wish I could see mine! Thank you
My D is a business major and still has not heard. Here GPA is 3.93, no tag, but IGETC will be finished after this semester.
@StoneTower How do you get 25k in grants??? Whats your gpa? Efc?
@Peter0001 it has to do with the timing you submitted fafsa and EFC
Like UCSD offered me 23k in grants I’m currently waiting on UCR’s offer
I didn’t get any merit stuff. Lol. My mom just submitted the FAFSA paperwork obscenely early so with Pell Grant + Cal Grant A + UCR Grant + Federal Work Study I got about 25k in grants.
To answer your questions though my EFC is 500 dollars and my GPA is 3.53 (although I don’t think my GPA has anything to do with it. I wanted merit scholarships, dang it!)
Also @jaxtransfer they are very sneaky sneaky. They give me all this grant money, expect me to pay 500 dollars and then push the remaining 10,000ish dollars off on loans. I didn’t really want to do the loan thing, but I guess it’s an inevitability! x_x I’m the first in my immediate family to do the college thing so we’re unsure of how everything works. I was under the impression that the Blue + Gold program covered everything not just fees, but my mistake I guess. Lol.
@StoneTower yeah I am/was also under the impression that blue and gold covers everything! So are they only giving you tuition money around $15000?
Rent will probably be $7,000 a year if you get a roommate and tuition $14,500 so that is $21,500 and then you have other expenses ie food car books… I’m planning on waitressing through school. 4 hour shifts and I’ve been averaging $100 maybe you should look into it.
Blue and Gold only covers tuition, not room and board.
@jaxtransfer I was under a similar impression as well, but it only covers fees and tuition stuff not room and board which amounts to additional 15,000 dollars. I have the Federal Work Study + I was gonna look for a job part timeish, but I don’t know how that would affect my federal aid money so once I hear back from the other Uni’s I applied to I’m going to go talk to the transfer center / my counselor and get things sorted. ^^;
For those who got their financial aid notifications, are you planning to live on campus? Does anyone know if that affects how much aid you’ll get?
@kristyalene yes choosing to live on/off campus affects the quantity you’ll get
@Hiitsnaomi so for which do you get more aid? On campus?
So not having received anything back by now pretty much means a rejection?..
Hello everyone! I have this really important question and it has been keeping me up. If anyone could help me out I would be really grateful!
I got my admission into UCR! (yay!!) But on my application I had put that I was planning on taking Math 10 for my math requirement in the spring of 2015. I tried to get into this class at my community class but they were all filled. Is there anyway that they would deny my admission based on my inability to take one math course?
@waghelas first of all. Congrats!! i think they would revoke your acceptance if it was a mandatory class to take or if that one class didn’t let you meet the 60 units to transfer.
like for me I couldn’t get into a bio class so I had to rush to find another class I could take so I can meet the 60 units
@waghelas If you were using the course to satisfy the math requirement and the course will not be completed by the end of Spring, yes, you’re admission will likely be revoked. The math requirement must be completed by the end of the semester prior to transfer.
If there is a “late-start” course at either your school or a nearby school, I would enroll right away. Also, contact UCR admissions immediately, explain the situation and see what your options are-- they might allow you to take the course over the summer (doubt it, but try anyway).
Congrats and good luck. What’s your major?
@frenchexit that is what I am wondering too lol. Or is that just a false belief?
Got in as EE @imagnetismi
@waghelas if it’s the required math you’re in deep doo-doo. Call and beg them to let you take it in summer. It’s really up to them how they decide, but they accommodate people sometimes when the conditional contract is broken.
My app is still pending… This is not good… LOL
My GPA : 3.19
Major : CS
IGETC : done
major prep : done by end of spring
What kills my gpa is my math grade… I guess since its also part of the major prep, my chance are slim?
