Wrote my Essay on how I changed from being lazy and shy to hardworking and friendly, which helps explain my low GPA. Counselor said it was one of the best she has ever read and I edited it several times with the help of an English Teacher.

I seriously can’t believe I got a rejected with a 31 ACT after seeing this: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/files/freshman-profiles-ca/freshman-profile-ca-ucr.pdf
I thought I had a really good chance because people with my GPA got in over 20% of the time and I was in the 96% acceptance range with my ACT.

Kind of depressing but good luck to everyone else.

@zacattack16 Sorry to hear about your rejection with those stats/EC’s, I suspect the GPA, which I heard is the biggest factor and then SAT/ACT. How did you find out? My email or mail or by checking the portal?

@liveonboca
I went to the portal, I never received an email. Well I got 7 more schools I applied too, hoping for the best now haha. Yeah it was my GPA for sure but I was hoping my ADD and multiple concussions would allow them to overlook my GPA just a little bit.

My son applied also applied ChemE at UCR and several other schools, so I am sure you guys will end up ACCEPTED in the same school forum on here and maybe schools too! Good luck! Keep a positive attitude.

I’m optimistic, if I was one of those 29 who got rejected in my ACT range maybe I’ll be one of those people who get accepted with less than a 1% chance elsewhere.

Accepted a long time ago … don’t even remember quite when. Undeclared.

Got my acceptance email near the end of January to CHASS! Still waiting on Santa Cruz

Are Biology and Mechanical Engr impacted majors at UCR?
Still waiting to here a decision.

Got accepted a while back, Immigrant studying internationally following CA standards with rigorous IB classes.
Weakness: SAT
Strengths: EC, Honors, GPAs, really good essay (I talked about how I received the last text message from my mom and dad prior to them passing away)
Comments: Got the Highlander award… seriously considering UCR, but waiting for UCI and UCLA.

Can anyone give me more information about the middle income scholarship awards? Do you have to sign SIR before applying?

@Dani2006, for the Middle Class Scholarship, you need to file the FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA Verification, from what I understand

@rickross92519 thank you.

decision: ACCEPTED
WGPA: 3.36
SAT: 1820
Major: neuroscience-CNAS

Weakness: My gpa and scores
Strengths: I’m guessing my personal statements?

Waiting on UCSC, but i love UCR IM SO GLAD I GOT IN <3
cant wait to potentially be part of the highlander family!!

I also got accepted with a 3.4 UW GPA and a 4.27 W GPA and ACT of 29.
How did everyone find out about scholarships? Do they send you an email?

Accepted ^-^
WGPA: 2.91
SAT: 1570

so I guess I wrote a really good personal statement because my stats are horrendous…

@Stacych8: My S received his scholarship notification by email and also on the portal. A week later a letter by snail mail.

@gumbymom Oh I see! How long after her admittance did she get an email regarding the scholarship?

My son received his Fall 2014 Freshman acceptance email last night at 11:48PM into Chemical Engineering. I had checked the portal earlier in the evening, maybe around 7PM and there was no change.

Happy to report S accepted last night (late!)
