DS22 waitlisted for CS/Business Applications. UC GPA 3.8, W 4.15. What used to be safety schools in years past are now reaches. And past reaches are now dream schools!

Amazing stats. Crazy that someone with such impressive stats can get WL this year at UCR
I wonder what will happen 5 years down the line when the competition will be off the charts.

One explanation might be UCR is a much smaller CS school. (< 200 graduated last year). Not sure how you can explain WL at UCSC which is a much bigger CS school (> 600 graduated last year).

Bottom-line: kid got into SLO with that stats which is a big win and best possible ROI.

Yeah totally agree about SLO value proposition and ROI.

Will the wl acceptance rate most likely go down or up this year?

Has anyone been able to sign up for orientation? We submitted the SIR but cannot find the actual page to register for the freshman orientation. It was supposedly made available 4/1.

https://highlanderday.ucr.edu/ :slightly_smiling_face:

Highlander day is not the same as orientation. Orientation is 2 days 1 night event starting in July 2022.

Misunderstood. We’re not thinking quite that far yet. :slightly_smiling_face: it looks like the site indicates it’ll be available in April (I didn’t see an actual link to register, just info on dates, cost).

For people who have been admitted, did you receive a regent scholarship and how did you find out?

This thread is so quiet. Did anyone attend Highlander day? We went and the campus is very nice! Students were super friendly. I’m feeling good about it, just waiting to see if my daughter will actually commit and submit that SIR (gotta get that housing app in and work out some additional logistics with where she’ll actually end up - she applied for the Honors program).

Panda_Tea, my daughter didn’t get a regent scholarship, just regular loan info on her portal…I’d think the regent info would be on there though? Not sure, sorry.

We attended! We are OOS; My goodness it was hot but a welcome change from our winter like weather back home. DS, my husband and I, found the Honors presentation very helpful. We are hoping to hear good results before the SIR date as that will be a determining factor. Best of luck to your DD on Honors!

Thank you! Good luck to your DS! We didn’t get a chance to go to the Honors presentation (relying on info from the website). She’s a Bio major so we really wanted to do the CNASS tour and the overall school tour. The CNASS tour was great (they answered lots of questions) …but yes, a little too warm to be walking around everywhere.

Housing contract portal opened. I thought they would announce by sending an email, and not to mention they said they would give a 24 hour heads up. I wonder when it actually opened. I checked almost everyday but yesterday.

Son was admitted to UCR in Mar. He was then invited to apply to apply for ucr honors 3 weeks ago and given a 1 week timeline to submit the application. Today he received notice that he was accepted and that he has until May 1 to accept. But when he accepted offer this evening he was told that they have reached their maximum capacity.

The only offer they made is to put him on the list for next year and he’ll be admitted automatically if he maintains a 3.5 gpa through the winter quarter.

Does anyone has experience like this? It seems almost like a teaser. Do they invite new students to apply even if they are about to be at full capacity?

Hold up they said that the honors was full capacity or the whole university for 2022

It sounds like a glitch. You might have him call today to find out why he is not able to submit.
