ugghh… waitlisted
ugghh… waitlisted. Does anyone know the chances of getting into UCR if you are waitlisted? UC GPA 3.5, SAT 1710
@college001: My D. has accepted Waitlist offer: as I understand if they’ll make any offer later (we hope), she can choose to accept it or to deny, and go on with currently selected university. If she’ll choose to accept, we’ll loose some deposit money, but the amount is not comparable with education cost, so I’m ok with that (we’re not rich - 1 job for whole family). So, it’s up to you and your family. Good luck!!!
Planning on doing the same thing, just wondering if we have any realistic shot of getting an offer from the wait list
@Helga18 thank you so much! I think I’ll do the same as well
For UCR it is really just around 300 of 2600+ on the wait-list that get in? ughh I don’t like those odds.
Me neither!!
I got into UCM and got rejected to other UCs i applied to (UCI, UCSB, UCLA, etc. ) but i got the letter of admission for Merced a couple weeks ago as a biology major but i REALLY want to go to UCR… my gpa is 3.26 weighted and my SAT is 1750 and i applied for biology and alternative as biochemistry and on the 25th got an email saying that i was a qualified student that couldnt be admitted due to the large amount of students admitted so they gave me an option to he waitlisted in CNAS and im soo nervous to see if i can get in… help… what are the chances of me being admitted…
Does anyone know how they choose who gets admitted from the waitlist or not? Is it still by gpa and test scores? Or is it just random now?
Accepted back in late January or early February don’t remember, but planning to commit to UCR soon! UCR was not by any means my first choice and I didn’t expect to even get waitlisted at Santa Cruz but I am pretty excited regardless. Applied as bio major.
Act 28
GPA 3.61 weighted
EC’s
would say decent-strong essay
200 community service hours.
Be sure to join the UCR class of 2019 facebook group page!
Anyone admitted students going to Highlander Day? I sent my SIR not too long ago and my housing contract in today.
I went to Discover Day back in February 28th but plan on not going to Highlander Day since I felt like it was going to be the same thing. I sent my SIR too and I’m going to Highlander Orientation. Anyone else going to Orientation?
@shadelz I got into business with a 3.04 GPA and 1940 SAT
@tylander 3.04 Unweighted or Weighted?
Still waiting on my UCR admissions. I got waitlisted for pre-business in CHASS. My stats are pretty bad though. Crossing my fingers that i will get into this school. I doubt it though since last year only around 200-300 out of 2600 got in. I really want to go here though. I got denied from UCI, UCD, CSULB (obviously). I got into CPP and am still waiting on CSUF.
Decision: Waitlisted
Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 520 Reading, 540 Math, 530 Writing; second time: 530 Reading, 460 Math (so bad), 570 Writing
[] ACT: 25 (though the UC system won’t accept my score because I didn’t take the act w/ writing. so stupid of me!)
[] SAT II: n/a
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.36 (cummulative gpa)
[] UC GPA: 3.14 (lower than my cummulative unweighted because the uc system won’t take some of the classes I took)
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 96/500-something? pretty sure I am in the top 20% though.
[] ELC?: what is this?
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): US History (3), Calc AB (currently taking), Government (currently taking), Environmental Science (currently taking); I took some more accelerated classes besides these but they are not AP so i didn’t get the grade boost from them.
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): n/a
[] Senior Year Course Load: French 3, CSU Expository Reading and Writing, AP Government, AP Calc AB, AP Environmental Science, Art 1
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): none really …
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Leo Club (kind of like Key Club), Science Club (Historian), SAVE (Student Advocates for Voter Empowerment), Cards for Kids, Garden Club, CSF (California Scholarship Federation)
[] Job/Work Experience: n/a
[] Volunteer/Community service: Does volunteering service through Leo Club, volunteered at local library Summer 2014
[] Personal Statement: Wrote about how my leadership position in Science Club helped me become a more outgoing person and my love to make others happy. They were okay, I guess.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Pre-Business -> Business
[] State (if domestic applicant): California
[] Country (if international applicant): USA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: $10,000 - $20,000, comes from a single parent household
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): A first-generation college student, I think? Mom only had 2 years of college for an Associate’s.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Student involvement in clubs and community service? I still feel like I could have done more clubs and volunteering though.
[] Weaknesses: GPA, test scores. Basically, the key things they look at. I am screwed.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/li][/ul]General Comments: Good Luck!!
