UC Riverside, SJSU, SDSU, or Cal Poly Pomona for Computer Engineering?

Hey all,

I’m currently deciding among these four schools for undergrad, but I’m really leaning towards either UC Riverside or SJSU. Location and money aren’t much of an issue. I live in the Bay Area of CA. My plans are to get a job right out of college.

Pros of UCR:

  • UC and easier transferability
  • Better campus and college life? (Don’t know about this one)

Cons of UCR:

  • Location and job opportunities, compared to SJSU
  • Pricier

Pros of SJSU:

  • Cheaper (money isn’t much of an issue for me, however)
  • Better location, EZ jobs/internships
  • Good computer engineering program? (that’s what I’ve heard)

Cons of SJSU:

  • Difficulty transferring to UCs?
  • Big commuter school

I have a couple of questions:
Would it be worth it to go to UCR and then transfer up the UC system? Or would it be worth it just going to SJSU?
How difficult is it to transfer into a UC like UCI through SJSU/CSU?

Also, I don’t really have any good incentives that would sway me over to either SDSU or Cal Poly Pomona. All advice and information are welcome though!

Thanks!

It’s definitely harder to transfer from a 4 year institution to another 4 year institution. Have you considering community college? It will save you more money and would be easier to transfer
