UC Riverside Transfer Decisions 2013

yes I know :,( glen mor is the most expensive apartment on campus and the newest (2007). they’re building a glen mor 2 which will be avaliable fall 2014.
Oban (on campus apt) is my 2nd choice. it’s affordable and looks pretty decent.
but crime around school is kind of ridiculous. car break ins and robberies. only the dorms +Glen Mor are truly in campus. the other “in campus” apartments are actually across the street. that’s why I prefere a dorm or glen mor. hahaha. but crime isn’t that bad. I don’t want to scare anyone or seem dramatic
worst comes to worst ill get lothian (cheaper dorm) or Oban (cheaper apartment)
Ps. stay AWAY from stonehaven campus apartments. the reviews are 100% negative

Yeah I read the same about Stonehaven :frowning: I wish there was more freaking reliable housing for transfers. Housing is only guaranteed for two years if you live in the res halls for a year apparently… well what if you don’t want to do that??? :stuck_out_tongue: Sheesh. And because my acceptance is conditional I don’t want to sign a lease for an off-campus apartment and then find out that it didn’t work out, and then have to worry about getting someone to take over the lease… if i even manage to get an apartment in June… :(

To those accepted, any one get any honors notifications on MyUCR?

Btw bioengineering 3.5 accepted March 1st
Took a tour,
Did not tag UCR-tagged UCI

Ohh and I still have not received admissions packet but already SIR & also got postcard 2 days ago

Why did you submit your SIR if you tagged to UCI? Did you change your mind about wanting to go to UCI?

I initially tagged UCI because they had my preferred major- Biomedical Engineering. However, after taking a tour of UCR and learning more about the engineering department I decided that UCR was the best school for me.

I was denied.

3.9 GPA - Business Administration
Only class missing from transfer was Calculus.

wait are you serious?
3.9 got rejected? you didnt take calc1? i dont think they required calc2…

No, I didn’t take Calc one. It was the one and only class I was missing. I was 8 years out of high school and had to take a few catch up math courses and didn’t have enough time to get Calc in when I still had to take Trig and College Algebra. When I asked them if I should just wait I was told they’d likely be fine with me taking actual Business Calculus at UCR once accepted.

A lot of good that did though.

wait, they’re rejecting people already?

UCR should be done with decision for freshmen or transfer already by now.

how are they done with transfers??? they got until april 30

Denied :(

Missing 3 pre-req courses probably did it.

Probably expected, but still feel like **** right now. Going to have a real bad day ~_~

@mental2 What was your GPA and major?

Was today the first batch of denials?

I’m still pending. Blah. It looks like maybe I’ll hear from UCSC before Riverside at this rate.

3.1 GPA Business Informatics, No TAG, missing 3 pre-req course. Yeah, I guess the odds were against me now that I really look at it. Figured there aren’t that many Business Informatics majors applying

It surprises me that people have been rejected already, and people with 3.0+ GPAs at that. I feel like either UCR is having another error where it is displaying rejection notices on accident (this happened at the beginning of the decisions this year), or you’ve been rejected for missing something essential, such as one of the two basic English classes, college level math, or the 60 unit minimum…? It seems odd to me since many people with under a 3.0 have been accepted.

"No, I didn’t take Calc one. It was the one and only class I was missing. I was 8 years out of high school and had to take a few catch up math courses and didn’t have enough time to get Calc in when I still had to take Trig and College Algebra.
A lot of good that did though. "

Did you take any Stats courses? Your GPA is really good, but one of the IGETC transfer requirements is an upper division math course after Algebra 2.

what are we supposed to do if we want to live on campus next year? is there an application in the my ucr portal??

@ChronoCross - I’ve taken College Algebra, Trig and Stats. IGETC was fully satisfied, the only thing technically missing was the ‘Foreign Language’ which isn’t actually required for IGETC but will be required for graduation.

The only actual thing missing for transfer was Calculus (which was suppose to satisfy my major since my CC didn’t offer Business Calc).

Overall, the entire experience was irritating. I stupidly put my eggs in UC thinking I didn’t have to worry that I’d get in… now I have to wait a year and I’ll try again but I’ll definitely be pursuing CSU’s this time.

^ Based on your description, I would say UC Riverside thought you were overqualified. They might think that you would 99.999999% not go there, then why not save this seat for other applicants who might be interested in going to UCR? You don’t even need to worry about UC Berkeley & UCLA. Your stat is already very perfect.

I am sure you did apply to Cal or UCLA. Good luck! you will be admitted by at least one of them. Calculus may be a problem. But you mentioned it wasn’t offered in your cc. I think they will notice this.
