I honestly feel pretty good about my chances with UCR. I went to their Preview Day in November and asked how many applications they get in my major and they laughed, lol. I’m thinking that might be a good sign. Maybe if they get two applications, they’ll take two people–regardless of GPA.

@getajobloser Yes, lmao. She made me sign up for this site.

please admit me

@getajobloser Haha. Well I’m glad you think so. I’m 100% online with Coastline, which has been convenient for me. I really want to get into Riverside, but I got into SJSU and CSULB, which will make a decision hard if I get into UCR too.

I’m pretty surprised to see the number of pple from OCC and the coastline district here lol

@041191 please don’t choose a school bc of its title
in high school the only other UC i got into was Davis, and all the CSUs i applied to. i also got into UOP.
i chose ucm bc they offered me a full ride while davis didn’t. all the other options practically offered me just as much as merced, only a tad less, but coming from a single parent background, the financial aid difference had a big influence on my decision
so i chose the uc that gave me everything over the CSUs and privates bc of the title
although i am grateful for all the opportunities uc merced has given me, there doesn’t go a day where i wish i could go back and think a bit more critically
SJSU and CSULB are great universities and can offer you a great education
idk what UCR is like and i don’t really care for it although i want to get in, but the UC title should not be grounds for SIRing
a title is arbitrary, in my opinion. your success is dependent on the initiatives you take to reach your goals.
but if you wanna go to UCR, go to UCR, just don’t do it for the name unless that’s what you really want then do you

@041191 Same major! I already got admitted, so here’s hoping.

@getajobloser I personally think UCR is a good school because it’s not only a small campus, but one of the smaller UCs. The class sizes are a lot smaller than the other ucs. @041191 Our major has really small class sizes too! The advanced japanes classes are like 20 people.

UCR does have an attractive Lit program, although I can’t say I ever looked into Japanese. I liked the university a lot once upon a time when I was an English major with an AA and a heart full of hope ready for transfer before I decided to switch my major to math lol

I think in retrospect I really just wanted to take a class with Reza Aslan

looool, I can definitely empathize with that, @ananguiano

I hope I get in man. 3.17 religious studies major. I think I’ll be ok though

lol i am currently studying for a bio exam. if i happen to be awake fine, if not, oh well. im pissed at ucr lol

A lot of people think that UCs > CSUs, and I can see where they’re coming from, but the difference between a CSU and UC, ultimately, is the fact that UCs are research institutions and CSUs are geared more toward professional careers–teachers, business owners, and nurses. I just want to go where I feel I’ll be the happiest. UC or CSU, it doesn’t matter. I like Riverside because it has a good community of students, and they’re the least likely of the UCs to turn me down because of my GPA.

1.5 hours to go.

@UCMtoUCSBHopeful I agree with you. Honestly, the two things that are helping me make any decisions are financial aid packages and the vibe I get from the campus. If I’m not feeling it, I’m not going. I don’t care if it’s a UC or a CSU. I want to go where I think I would do well, not what my degree is going to say after I graduate. I’m leaning toward SJSU, truthfully. As much as I like the southern California weather, I think it’s time to experience something new. SJSU seems like a great school, and I’m going to Admitted Students Day to check it out and think harder on what I want out of college. Thanks for the advice, dude.

@umberial What was your GPA, though? It can’t have been as low as mine. I’m glad you got admitted, though! If we both SIR, then I’ll at least know someone in the same major! I’m glad class sizes are small. My friend tried to convince me that UC classrooms are too big, and I told him the upper division ones weren’t more than thirty people, so I’m glad that held true. Dude was a butthole about it, though, and kept telling me that CSUs suck–but that’s probably because he was rejected everywhere he applied to accept for one school and he didn’t want me getting more than him.

i understand prestige is important, but i dont think that it would be wise to make a decision based on that alone. i hate how people rank UC’s based on “prestige”. When i graduate, i intend on getting by on my work ethic and drive, not the title of my university.

does anyone else have faith in decisions getting posted tonight at 12am?

i am still here. with my luck, it wont be at 12am lol

@DannyOcean idk… growl is down

@UCMtoUCSBHopeful you think thats a sign?
