do the UCs have rolling admissions, meaning that if i don't turn my application in earlier than other people, i have a lesser chance of being accepted? i know the app isn't due till this friday...... so what's the deal
please answer!

No and no. But don't wait until the last minute. There is usually an overload of applications being submitted at the same time, and people have, in the past, been unable to meet the deadline because of a crash.

to be fair, the ucs give you extra time past the deadline by the amount of time that they were crashed. but definitely turn it in asap. it will give you peace of mind

Does anyone know when they usually crash, and for how long? I am submitting on Weds (possibly thurs night), and curious as to whether this is too late.

They don't "usually" crash. That's a rumor that's been circulating on CC. At best, the servers slow down and the pages take longer to load, but rarely, if ever, do they actually crash (this was mentioned in an article/post on UC admissions, either on CC or another site). It's a major network -- with over 300,000 student-applicants, it isn't likely that it'd really crash.

i remember one year when it crashed and thousands of kids who were waiting till the last day got pwned in the butthole

^^ and as a result, UC has probably ensured that it won't happen again.

I completed and sent in my application the day before it was due and I was fine. I'm kind of a procrastinator, but this was waaaay too important for me to do that; plus, I have anxiety issues, and I'm sure if I'd waited until the last minute I would probably stopped breathing.

It's not so much an issue of procrastination so much as it is an apparent temporary case of OCD --I'm on my 10 draft for my personal statements, and I've probably spent 5-6 hours reviewing the application itself.
