UC`S & CSU`S preferences on how many units you take when transferring?

I
m currently attending a community college in California, and about to end my first year. That being said, my classes
are becoming harder. I plan on transferring to a CSU or UC, and maybe try University Of San Francisco.
My question is, would colleges prefer me having better grades/GPA with only a few units each quarter rather than more units, receiving less desirable grades (i.e: a few C
s). I have learned that I cannot receive better grades if I take 3 classes because they are only getting harder. The only way is to take at least two classes, that way I can focus on them easier. (But that isn't considered full time)

So far, this past first year at my community college, I have been full time since I started, but now my classes are getting harder, and when I go back to school in the Fall, I'm thinking on just taking 2 classes which is around 10 units. Because if I were to take that amount, I would probably get better grades/GPA as opposed to taking 3 classes which is around 15 units. I recently had to drop a course with a "W" and am retaking it this Summer. This made me realize that maybe I should just be taking 2 classes, because everything was too much work, and I have two jobs, which gave me little time to do homework, etc.

During the application revision process, would they take this into consideration?--- I received good grades while holding two jobs , but with only a few units per quarter?
I really need help on deciding what to do, because I really don't want to be wasting time and money, and plan on transferring ASAP. I hope you guys can help me out here! If it makes any difference, I am majoring in Nursing and want to get my BSN.

So overall, would UC
s and CSU
s prefer a student who isn't considered full time receiving better grades, as opposed to a full time student with less desirable grades? Thanks!

Correct me if I’m wrong but, isn’t 2 classes 6 units and 5 classes 9 units?? I’m not understanding where your numbers are coming from…

At my school one class is averaged to about 5 units, depending on the course.
i.e. This quarter im taking 3 classes and each class is 5 units. So, 15 units in total
