"UC San Diego Application – Additional Information Requested"

Did anyone get this email? Seems pretty short and simple. I got this whilst working on my UCI supplemental so thats kind of funny

Is this a good sign or a bad sign for admissions? I’ve traversed through CC and saw that most people who were able to do this well eventually got in

I just received one form SD and it asks:

  1. Do you believe your grades and test scores accurately reflect your academic ability and preparation? Please explain.
  2. Describe in greater detail any special talent, skill or ability you included in your list of extracurricular activities or mentioned in your personal statement for the UC Application and how the pursuit of this activity may or may not have affected your academic achievement thus far. (Art, music, dance, debate, athletics, volunteer or community service, etc.)
  3. Are there any personal circumstances such as employment, family responsibilities or illness that have significantly hampered your ability to achieve academically thus far? How do you feel these circumstances have prepared you to overcome any personal challenges that might occur while at UCSD?

I’m not too sure if this is a good sign or not… I didn’t indicate any disability in my app, but I did have pretty good EC’s. does anyone know the deal with these?
Thanks

@chlove98 yup!! same one

I got the same questionnaire. Anyone know how to answer if you do not have any personal circumstances that have affected you?

@mash97 I think its best to leave it unanswered then, since its totally optional. They’ll just review your app with what they already have

Hey can you guys post your stats and whether you received the Additional Information Request or not? I’ll start.

No request received.
4.2 UC Weighted Capped GPA
2210 SAT

@andrew545 I’m almost certain it’s for borderline applicants, so you wouldn’t need to worry about it

@scoobysnacks56
Yah I am pretty borderline which is why it concerns me that I haven’t received anything (no supplemental or anything in the mail).

@Andrew545 What I’ve thought is maybe they use it for two different types of borderline applicants. Those who are borderline between being an admit/reject and those who are borderline between being a regular admit/regents admit. Maybe you are the latter in this case. Because I have a 4.18 Capped UC GPA, 4.36 Uncapped UC GPA, and 2080 SAT. I didn’t receive one of those from UCSD (Maybe because they feel like they can admit me, but I’m not anywhere close to being considered for regents there) but I did receive one from UCLA. (Where my numbers make me a very borderline applicant for admission.)

@andrew545 … your stats are no where close to being borderline for UCSD… you’re definitely above the average for most people who enroll?

I received the additional information email from UCSD too mine also request my 7nth semester grades, which I took four Ap classes. I recieved an A in Ap calculus, Ap chemistry, english , drama, and a support class for ap students. I also received a B in ap statistic and a C in Ap government. Think its good enough to impress?
