***UC San Diego Class of 2020 Decisions Thread***

the area code was 858

Does everyone get called or is it just the top applicants?

@kobe24mamba I read that 30% of the admitted will get a phone call from UCSD and consider UCSD acceptance rate is about 30%. They will only call 9% of the applicants.

Got call from UCSD around 7:00 pm last night (PST). Accepted to Chemical Engineering instead of 1st choice of Mechanical Engineering, and 2nd choice of Aerospace Engineering. Don’t know where they got the idea of Chemical from, but was accepted to 1st choice of Roosevelt College.

[/ul]General Comments/Additional Information:
So I go to a small private Christian school (375 students in all of high school.) The school only offers 5 AP classes total, so my class schedule wasn’t that impressive, but I explained the circumstances throughout my application. One big thing I had going for me was leadership.
My EC’s included being Executive VP of ASB at my school in my senior year, as well as Editor in Chief of my school’s yearbook. I also founded an “Ultimate Frisbee” club and was involved in Rotary. I talked a lot about the level of responsibility I had in my personal statements.

[/ul]General Comments/Additional Information:
My essays were kind of “creative” to say the least. They weren’t your usual essays about background/sob story. I wrote about baking a cake and made an analogy to helping the environment for one of them… I was actually kind of scared they’d deter admissions officers away!

Accepted: UCSB (Chancellor’s Reception), UCR (Chancellors), CalPoly SLO, UCI (CHP), UCD, SJSU
