Hey guys, I’ve been Waitlisted for UC Davis and accepted to UC San Diego. I also got accepted to Sacramento State University. I wanted to go to get into UC Berkeley but I got rejected. Now I’m looking for an alternative plan. My GPA is 4.22 and SAT I got 1940, but that’s because I studied for 6 months only and I know that I could’ve done better.
I wonder what colleges is better for my major, UC Davis or UC San Diego?
Please help me, I could provide further information
Thanks in advance!
Go to UCSD which is an excellent school for CS. Did you get a direct admit into the CS major?
@Gumbymom Yes, both in CS, but UCSD is kinda of far from me, I’m from Sacramento.
UCSD has a premier CS program that many students would kill to get into. Maybe not kill, but at least maim, or seriously injure. Jacobs School undergraduates have numerous research and internship opportunities, and graduates find jobs in top SV and local firms.
Take a trip to both campuses and see which one you consider a better fit, though. Rankings aren’t everything, and everyone finds different opportunities at different schools.
UCSD has an excellent CS program. Advisers are helpful, great faculty, lots of research opportunities.
In terms of job opportunities: Quarterly job fair, sometimes job fairs last for 2 days with 1 day dedicated to science and tech firms. Top tech companies recruit at these job fairs, e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, etc. Many local startups recruit at UCSD as well, and there are so many internship opportunities that there’s no way you won’t land on one if you reach for it.
