Hi, I am high school senior and I was accepted into UC San Diego for next year, but I was unable to secure a spot in their Computer Science program as it was “oversubscribed.” I was wondering if anyone knows what the likelihood of me being able to change my major to CS later, or if I would just have to pick a new major, because this will decide where I go to college.
From what I have heard, transferring to an impacted major is next to impossible and difficult (especially at UCSD). This is only due to the lack of space to accommodate so many students. I say do not take the risk of choosing a major you would not like.
In that case, it would probably be better to go to another college, as many of the other majors I was also thinking about are also impacted at UCSD
In the past it was not a problem but this year it could be a problem because of the negotiation between Brown and Janet P.
What are your other options?
