UC San Diego or UC Davis?

I'm having trouble deciding between these schools.

My problem is that I was admitted to UCSD as a winter admit and as a result, housing isn't guaranteed. I do not believe that I'll be able to afford living in the area. However at Davis, I'm in for fall and have guaranteed housing.

The reason why I want to go to San Diego is because I'm planning to major in biochemistry and possibly go to medical school.

I need second opinions whether not having housing is worth attending UC San Diego. If I lived in the San Diego area I would go in a heartbeat but I don't.

What do you think?

I went to UC Davis and I currently live not far from UCSD, and I can tell you that both schools have strong biochemistry programs, and getting good grades at either one of them can get you into medical school.

Davis is much more of a true college town, and UC Davis has a lot more school spirit than UCSD and a more vibrant social life too. But UCSD is ranked a little higher, and the weather is better, but if you can't solve the housing thing you can do just fine at UC Davis.
