My dream school is UC Santa Barbara but I'm going to be an OOS applicant and the tuition for OOS is pretty expensive. Is it worth the money? Thanks!!(:

It’s entirely up to you. If you are willing to pay tuition price at a private university level then go for it.

As great as UCSB will be, I really don’t think it’s worth 50k to attend, unless you’re filthy rich. Yes, it’d probably be the best 4 years of your life, but you can save much money if you just attend some other schools in your state and possibly have a similar college life. Ultimately though, it’s your choice.

I don’t think any UC is worth the $50K OOS (and count on that rising a LOT the next few years due to the CA budget crisis). For much less you can go to the public in your state and get the same large classes and lack of attention, with thousands and thousands left over to spend on a long beach vacation every summer.

no. no school is worth 50k$ with minimal chance of getting significant aid, whether its harvard or ucsb

UCSB is a wonderful school but it’ll probrably be out of your interest to be paying 50k.

If I get into UCSB next year I’ll gladly pay 50k for it… heck I’d even pay 60. But I’m Norwegian, so money isnt an issue…

(That last part was a joke)
