UC Santa Barbara to Release decisions 3/22/10

My first school that I got accepted to!!
3.44gpa business Econ and accounting

this has just got to be my luck. i’m still pending! grrrrrr! same with ucsd! i’m so annoyed why can’t i just get AT LEAST one acceptance already!

communications major with tag
3.78

congrats for all those who are getting accepted! I didn’t apply to UCSB, but my boyfriend did (along with Davis and Cal) and I am really getting my fingers crossed for him… you guys are lucky to get acceptances already…sigh

How is chemistry department in UCSB?

I am thinking about double major in chem and econ…

sad face looking at the acceptance thread, I am now convinced that it is just a totally random announcement process. I see little to no correlation… maybe something crazy like people who have 1 or more As in their middle name. I don’t know. I can’t guess. Too tired to guess. Going to get In-N-Out and drink beer with my mom. The deal was if I got in today, I paid, so looks like she’s buying!

Idk, kern. I’ve gotten my acceptances right when they were supposed to be released (for UCI, UCSB, UCSD, and UCSC) I think it’s random and I may have gotten lucky? Who knows. You’ll get in soon enough!

3.3 GPA
History

Thank God UCSB didn’t ignore me like UCI and UCSD have. FINALLY something other than “pending”.

@kernlsanders

Accepted. 4.0 Philosophy Major.

So far that’s UCSB and UCSD :)

@kernlsanders i feel your pain :(

ya UCSB was my first acceptance so far as well, still waiting on UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB.

My best wishes to all of the hard working people with fingers crossed out there!

Oh nice that’s the first engineering major I’ve seen accepted. I’m a computer science major, but haven’t seen anything yet…

yay pre business econ accepted!

Damn Wingspan! Nice GPA you got there :slight_smile: Well good. Congrats man. If I don’t get UCLA, SB is probably going to be my home… IF they ever get around to accepting me.

Oh, so my mom has a theory (after she had a few beers and a good burger)… Maybe, if you applied to a school like UCLA and UCB, and those schools know they want to accept you, the other earlier UCs like UCI and UCSB have to wait until just before UCLA or UCB release theirs. That way, you don’t send in your SIR to UCSB (or whatever earlier release school you applied to), thinking you won’t get in to LA or Cal. But if they probably won’t accept you, the other schools can send out their acceptances, because it won’t matter anyway. I don’t know, but that actually makes sense, that the UCs “talk” to each other.

I dont think thats the case :frowning: I’m 99% sure they just evaluate it by whats on the top of the stack. They split the applications between what ever number of evaluators they have and then just evaluate. I’ve gotten accepted to one but not the other thats already come out.

Meh- just a drunken theory. Maybe it has to do with the day you applied. In that case, I deserve it.

@kernisanders: I applied really late even it was after the dealine. I personally emailed to ucsb admission office to put me on the list. But I still got notification today.

rejected uci, accepted by ucsb – my first choice!!!
3.7 gpa, 1990 sat

@admitmejesus- AUGGGHHH!! Seriously?? It has to be random- at least you don’t have to agonize over whether or not that jeopardized your chances. Congrats!

@fiskelove- that’s great! :slight_smile: I’m still jealous.
