hi!! I'm going to be applying to all three schools as an English major in the fall. Which do you guys think is best, both overall and for my major?? Thanks : )

Bump…

all 3 of these are very different in setting and type of student they tend to attract (the latter being based a bit on stereotypes, but still…) I suggest you visit all 3 and find out which is the best fit for you.

My cousin went to UCSC and majored in English. From what I recall at the Thanksgiving dinner table, she had a thoroughly awesome experience.

UCSB is literally RIGHT on the beach. Insane parties during Halloween.
UCSC has a reputation of being a druggy school. Best mountain biking in California.

Not sure about Davis, but my friends seem to enjoy it.

I’m a Lit major at UCSC right now, and in my opinion the lit program isn’t very interesting. I’m trying to transfer out

I’ve heard English at Davis is very good. That was from my D’s English teacher. Not sure how to quantify. And Davis is a great college town.

Davis or SB. Not SC!

thanks for the responses! i think i’m leaning towards santa barbara at the moment, but i’d say it’s mostly because i just went to their reception lol

To newyorkmydreams. You are all over the UCSC, UCLA, UCSB and UCD discussion threads ‘anxiously awaiting’ your acceptances so I don’t understand why you would diss UCSC. What are your justifications? You should not have applied there if you don’t like it. Leave the spot for someone who wants to live in a beautiful place with a peaceful atmosphere.
