Hi all,
This is a place where anyone can ask questions and just talk about UCSC in a collaborative environment. Best of luck everyone! Go Slugs!
Do coaches at ucsc have athletic admission power?
I’m scared I won’t get in drop some stats pls

UCSC does not admit by major with the exception of the College of Engineering.
- SANTA CRUZ
- Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores, State residency
- Important: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, First generation college student, Geographical residence, Talent/ability
- Considered: Volunteer work, Work experience
- Note: Test scores, GPA in required subjects most important. Personal statement very important.
- Admission Selection: Important Note for Prospective Engineering Students: Choice of major does not influence the selection of first-year students, except for those applicants interested in a major offered by the Jack Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE). Freshmen who are interested in a BSOE program should be sure to indicate a BSOE proposed major. Students who do not indicate a BSOE program or who apply as undeclared might not be able to pursue a BSOE program.
@Gumbymom do you know if coaches have any sort of admission power?
If you are a recruited athlete, than the coach could have an influence on your admission chances. You would need to contact them directly.
Applied as bio, fingers crossed
same ahh
i feel like i should’ve done my research abot this before, but does ucsc have a premed program?
@lifeoftheparty: Pre-med is an intention and not a major. You can major in any subject you want but you will need to take the Medical school requirements to apply.
Most medical schools require the following courses:
One year of Biology with lab.
One year of General Chemistry with lab.
One year of Organic Chemistry with lab.
One semester of Biochemistry.
One year of Physics with lab.
One year of English.
I would also add Psychology to the list.
Each Medical school will have specific course requirements.
UCSC does have a Pre-Med advising center to help you plan your program.
Hi guys. UCSC is one of my top choices and I’d love to be chanced for Computer Science. Here are my stats.
UC GPA: 3.81
SAT: 1440/1600
Extracurriculars: Pretty good with many related to CS and engineering in general.
Essays: Powerful and explain extenuating circumstances resulting in low sophomore grades . Also explain why I want to pursue CS.
I’ve also taken 5 community college courses in CS and related topics
thanks for the help
Does anyone know when we will start to hear about in state admissions? is it not until March or will it start in February?
@TheFrenchChef Regents started coming out in the first few weeks of February. Rest of the decisions came out in March (according to their website/last year’s results)
Based on previous admits, do you guys think I have a shot at the Regents Scholarship? GPA: 3.87 / SAT 1550/1600; Bio: 770/800; USH: 770/800; Math II 800/800. Pretty solid essays surrounding character, activities (relating to major), and difficulty and volunteering/extracurriculars relating to major as well.
Any February admits yet?
when do regents come out?
does anybody know if regents required a second app? or if you are automatically considered
@nv7891 automatically considered
When do the decisions usually start coming out?
I think they start releasing their decisions on March 15th
