UC Santa Cruz Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

@calimamabear I don’t think so. I wrote an email asking UCR about this and also submitted change major AFTER acceptance; my DD‘s request was denied but she remained in accepted major and need to follow change major requirements AFTER school starts. I think UCSC will be the same, they can deny your request for changing major (example: from humanity to Engineering) but will not rescinded your initial acceptance.you can still change major later after taking some classes and remain some good GpA and request again.

@jjkmom thank you for the information, it was helpful. We would like to attempt a major change but do not want to jeopardize her acceptance as this is her first choice. So, it’s good to read your experience. DD would like to change major to Biology ( pre-biology). If you don’t mind sharing, which major did your DD try to change to?

@calimamabear my DD got accepted to Economics/ Administrative studies but she realized that’s not the same as Business Economics major; while research for the major, she found Computer Science- Business Application major which is like business MIS/CIS type of major; she likes to major something that have overlapping fields of technology, business and/or design; so she submitted change major request for the CS-Bus App major and got denied; she remains in Economics major and she can submit change major request every 15 days and that won’t affect her acceptance decision; we plan to change major again to Business Economics. For UCSC, she is accepted to CS-Computer Game Design major which she is happy to have technology plus design; but she doesn’t want to be “banana slug”, doesn’t like the mascot.

@jjkmom it’s my understanding that UCSC offers a two year housing guarantee to incoming freshman

@jjkmom thank you for sharing, best of luck to our DDs

Thank you @unizee! We are going to visit in April, can’t wait for UCI decision anymore.

@seekingseeking thank you! under the financial aid tab! (student center)

got accepted to the comp sci major

I saw on the UCSC FAQs that your admission can be rescinded if you have reported changes in coursework, etc., which I did. I’m really scared because I have decided that I wouldn’t take one AP exam that I said I planned to take on my UC application. I finished the course and passed with a B. I told UCSC that I completed the course and that I just won’t take the exam in a little form I had to fill out, according to a representative I called. Does anyone know if my admission can be canceled because I’m not taking an AP exam?

My acceptance letter came in the mail today !

Thank you @lilaclily we haven’t yet received ours in the mail yet and we’ve been looking for it! We are OOS though so maybe it’s taking longer to arrive…

@unizee Oh, I’m in state so it makes sense why I got it earlier

@HumanBio2022 unlikely. If you took the course you should be fine. Whether you take the AP exam is not what they care about.

Any potential film majors?

@Marlinmom Ok thank you!!

My d is pretty much set on going to UCSC but we haven’t visited the campus. If anyone has been to the campus…what are your thoughts? Positives/negatives?

@Twins2000 I absolutely loved the campus. It was gorgeous and very nature-y. It was like split beach and forest.

@lilaclily Thank you for replying…it sounds amazing! Any cons? Did you check out the dorms etc? How to we get to the campus from the airport? Does the college have a shuttle?

@Twins2000 When I went on the tour last year they didn’t show us the dorms. I recommend watching some YouTube videos on dorm or campus tours. The college has a great shuttle transportation system around the campus and I believe they also had one to the airport. My whole family absolutely loved it and it’s our favorite UC campus. No cons that I can think of right now

Thank you so much @lilaclily …are you planning to attend UCSC?
