Huh… interesting. Seems the order of the last names doesn’t matter as much as I thought it would. In any case, mine’s near the very end of the alphabet so there’s a good chance I’ll be stuck waiting until 5 a.m.

Should we be checking in the myUCSC portal under “Application Status”? The “My Application Status” page just shows the info that was there before:
Our notification period begins midnight (Pacific Daylight Time) on March 17 and concludes on April 30. All admission decisions are posted in the portal, and admitted students are also notified with a letter sent to the current mailing address. We will begin posting out decisions on the portal on March 17 according to the first letter of your last name in the following time blocks:
A - C beginning at 12:00 a.m.
D - G beginning at 1:00 a.m.
H - K beginning at 2:00 a.m.
L - N beginning at 3:00 a.m.
O - S beginning at 4:00 a.m.
T - Z beginning at 5:00 a.m.
