Hi guys,

I just received an email from UCSC notifying me of a revised financial aid, and I went to check it and noticed that the "UC Santa Cruz Grant" was reduced by quite a bit. Does anyone know why this would occur? I did recently waive the USHIP Health Insurance, but that costs $1353 annually, and my grant was reduced $2880, so I'm not sure if that has any correlation.

Thanks in advance!

Did you receive a CalGrant? Because your CalGrant serves to take the place of a portion of your UCSC grant. Once you get your CalGrant, UCSC uses the UCSC grant as a stop-gap (in other words, they use it to cover the difference between your CalGrant/other financial aid and the full cost of tuition/fees)

Thanks for the info. I will be receiving a Cal Grant, yes, but none of the numbers have changed anytime over the last few months, only the UCSC Grant was adjusted.

You’re welcome. If I’m not mistaken, your overall/total amount of aid should remain relatively unchanged, despite the shift. Looking at your offer, does that seem to be the case? If not, I’d call the financial aid office and see what’s up. That’s not to say that anything might be wrong, but better safe than sorry, I guess.
