UC Santa Cruz now or UC Berkeley later?

Do you think you would be able to get a job paying enough to both fully support yourself and pay for all your school expenses without financial aid? Even if you some how magically got in state status, you aren’t considered independent for financial aid purposes unless you are 24 years old, or married, or a veteran, or supporting a child, or a ward of the court.

“but I’ll have to pay OOS even after transferring, 2 years later, right??”

RIGHT

“not with OOS for my junior and senior years after transferring…”

SADLY, THAT’S HOW IT WORKS

You don’t have to go to college in California in order to get a job there. Finish your degree where you are, then move.

ya the resident status is sorta tricky. i moved from missouri for my senior year in high school (dads job) and i dont think i have residency. :(

Wow, the OP seems to have been misinformed about SO many things!

Fortunately, the residency and OOS cost ($50k+, not $30k!) issues have been addressed by prior posters. I’m just wondering, though, if the OP hasn’t confused UCSC (UC-Santa Cruz) with USC (University of Southern California). I have NEVER heard of UCSC having a renowned business school! (See posts ##3 and 4 above.)

Of course, this thread is two weeks old . . . the OP is probably long gone.

good point dodgersmom… imagine the shock of landing at UCSC thinking your’re at USC… (or vice versa.) Talk about CULTURE shock, lol !
