Hello, I have just finished my first year of college as a proposed Biological Sciences (BS) Major and my current GPA stands as a 3.56. However I plan to take a class at Davis over summer and 22 units in the upcoming fall quarter and if all goes well, getting all A’s, my gpa should be somewhere around a 3.65-3.68 when applying to the aforementioned schools. My question is, what are my chances for getting into UCD and UCI as a bio major with this current gpa and later on with a 3.65-3.68?
22 units in the fall?!?!? Are you sure you want to do that to yourself???
Not sure about Davis, but UCI shouldn’t be a problem. Check out the Davis thread for this year and see the GPA’s of people that were admitted for bio. Will you have all the prereqs completed?
Look into TAG for both schools, and choose one to TAG.
I agree with fncrane, 22 units is a ton. Why so many?
@luckie1367 I don’t think OP can TAG since they’re coming from UCSC
@JNRL18 coming from UCSC and taking 23 units for two quarters straight, I think 22 units is manageable. Just make sure that you’re very organized and efficient about allocating your time. As for your GPA, I think being above a 3.5 is pretty competitive. At this point, just focus on raising your grades as much as you can to be more competitive
And to clarify for others, classes at UCSC are usually five units so 22 units would be something like 4 classes and 1-2 labs.
@fncrane I did 22 units last quarter managed to get 4 A’s and 1 B! At this point in time I am more motivated to dedicate my time to raise my gpa and transfer. So Irvine I have a good chance?
Oops, thanks @fncrane. My Bad!
@fncrane also, I will have finished the pre requisites by winter quarter and pretty much all my general ed’s by end of spring next year. Where is the Davis thread and is there also an Irvine one? Could you post them here? Thank you.
I think you should be fine, in my humble opinion. I had no idea classes there were worth so many units! That’s crazy! Good for you for getting those great grades, too
