Wow this thread is 2 weeks early lol. Anyway, decisions for UCSC start the 17th, so we have a long way to go.

Man, I’m stoked for SB and SC…they will either break me or make my month of March :O

I’m just waiting on UCSB. I have a TAG for UCSC so I’m not worried about it.

@mermake I know but its the hype, we gotta get pumped!

@ramsfan waiting on the same schools hah.

I already decided that I’m going to attend UCR for fall 2013 (accepted!) but I’m still curious to see if I got into UCSC. I don’t know much about the school, just that the area is beautiful.

Why are you choosing UCR over UCSC?

because, only UCR offers my exact major.
that’s the main reason. but other reasons are that I like the campus/area (visited many times) and it’s only an hour away from home so I can come home every weekend.

I’m on the same boat with UCD and UCSC. UCD has my major, but UCSC has the campus and I really like that fact that units at UCSC are 5 units instead of the typical 4 units. If I go to UCD, I’m going to have to take 16 units(4 classes) to graduate on time, but If I go to UCSC, I’ll only take 3 classes(15 units) a quarter to graduate on time. That seems so chill. The UCSC campus and location is also more euphoric.

@Mermaker good point I’m loving the 5 units per class as well. It’ll allow me to get my major done and do some extra classes to prepare me for my masters. I think the campus will be perfect for me, plenty of freedom when you need to be alone or whatever.

The amazing location is the main reason for making this one of my top choices. When I tell people I’m considering UCSC they dismiss it as a party school, but don’t even know awesome the region is!

I’ve heard the exact opposite. Everyone says that UCSC is not a party school. That’s fine with me since I don’t really party like I used to.

I think people associate the whole counterculture vibe of Santa Cruz (e.g. 4/20 gathering) with being a party school, not so much it being a place like SB. Nonetheless, it would be an incredible place to study!

@mermaker That’s what I’ve heard too, and when I went up there it was just little kickbacks. Maybe a big party here and there but its not all year round like SB.

I’m just waiting on UCSC. I have a TAG for UCSB so I’m not worried about it.

Got an email from UCSC titled “Check Your Access to the UCSC Portal Now”. For a second I thought we were getting acceptances earlier, then i read the message and it just said to make sure you could log in. Haha wow, harsh SC!

Haha I don’t know why I’m excited about UCSC all of a sudden. For pretty much a whole year I contemplated about what school I wanted to attend. Even though UCSC has the campus, I always figured I would choose a school with my major(UCD or UCSB), but for some reason, I don’t care about that anymore. I just want to live in a cold, foggy, wet Redwood forest overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Mr. Randall: I was also excited then I read the rest of the email -____- lmao

Same Randall and Ramfan

mermaker - I’m thinking the same exact thing! For a while I was mostly stuck on Berkeley because they have a great department for my major, but there’s just something about the Santa Cruz campus… I just really want to live there.
