UC Santa Cruz Transfer Decisions 2013

@chronos What UC would you attend if you moved to socal?

@mermaker cool pics, thanks  I love that cloudy/rainy weather.

any psychology majors here?

You guys would like UCSC, it’s never too hot or cold when I came to visit friends. ALSO there are deer EVERYWHERE, which is awesome I was an inch away from one but my friends told me not to feed them or go near them LOL

Its only rainy and cloudy at UCSC during October-February, other than that it’s always sunny.

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/577103_2964338687159_867697372_n.jpg</a></p>

LOL, A picture I took from there

OH the schools I applied to down at so cal were, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, CSU Long Beach. My top choices down there were CPP or Irvine

Well, still nothing today, but I will keep checking the portal. Just curious, are there any others who haven’t heard back yet? I’m assuming the worst since my gpa isn’t up to par, but we’ll see. I’ll just post my stats in case anyone finds it helpful in the future. I’ll update whether or not I get in as well.

Major: Marine Biology, Junior-level transfer.

GPA: 3.06 (upward trend, 2.7 freshman year, 4.0 over the summer and 3.6 last semester) Had a rough time fighting off illness and cancer in the family, but I won’t get into that.

EC’s: Interning for a shark research project. Working with the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology on Oahu with a couple of grad students.

Status: Still pending… I haven’t heard back from any schools yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for either UCSB or UCSC. They have exactly what I’m looking for.

@Chronocross cool picture :stuck_out_tongue: Also, Oct-Feb is like the majority of the school year!

@xtheswedex Don’t worry too much, decisions come out in batches so I’m sure you will get yours soon.

Did anyone NOT get in? I haven’t heard back… from ANY UC’s and I’m starting to get worried that those who haven’t heard back are the rejected aka ME.

@andrewexd thanks man. I think I just need to relax and keep myself busy in the meantime. I’m just stressing out because I’ve been planning to transfer for almost two years now and I just want the process to be over with so I can either celebrate or drown my sorrows away in alcohol and get on with my life haha xD

Xtheswedex! You’re GPA is pretty good! I’m sure UCSC will accept you! Also I think one of their best Majors there is Marine Biology! Plus your ECs sound great. and LOL I feel the same way… I’m so glad all this stress of transferring in only 2 years is finally going away. I’m glad to meet another 2 year transfer! xP Also did you tag the school? :0

Thanks chronocross :). no, I wish I could though. I am a Cali resident going to an out-of-state four-year college. I’m studying at University of Hawai’i, but I’ve been trying to come back so I can get the resident tuition. Did you TAG? I would definitely do it if I could.

I’m freaking out because I applied to the literature major with a 3.86 gpa and they haven’t posted my decision yet! Any idea when they’ll post the rest of the decisions???

How do you like going to the University of Hawaii? Going there crossed my mind once or twice.

Applied for EE, still no response. Any engineering majors here that received a response?

I haven’t gotten any news either xtheswedex  and Id really like to attend either UCSB or UCSC, but UCSB the most. All we can do is just wait :(

No word yet here either. Harrumph.

I’m a CCC transfer with 3.88 GPA. Intended major is neuroscience.

Gen-chem, o-chem, bio, and composition series completed. Calculus and physics series will be done after spring quarter. I’m two humanities classes shy of completing IGETC. No TAG. ECs include current president of the medical brigades club - was VP of the club last year.

My major weakness is a large pile of W’s from about 9 years ago when I first attempted college and dropped out.

Good luck to everyone, and congrats to those accepted.

Mermaker: cool pics man!! I didn’t take any when I was there. I’m digging the Corolla though.

^Lmao! I’m at the point where I come to College Confidential only to read Ramfan’s random comments. Love it!

Accepted!!! :D

3.85 gpa
all prereqs done
ge done
anthro major
yes had TAG

even though TAG was accepted back in Nov, this confirmation is wonderful!!! So excited about ucsc, berkeley who? ucla who? Seriously though i feel that sometimes UCSC doesnt get the credit it deserves, and if i do get accepted to all the above mentioned schools i would be proud to choose the santa cruz over them for many reasons. Go Banana Slugs! Congrats to those accepted, and the best of luck to those waiting! PS to some of you guys (girls?)- peeps, another class of 11 over here! hooray for hustling :)

@mermaker. If you’re studying marine biology, oceanography, or astrology, Hawai’i is the place to be. Marine bio and oceanography are top 5 in the nation, and with the WUE discount, it’s about the same price as going to a Cal State (although that may be changing soon.). Honestly, if you like the ocean and you enjoy being outdoors, you’ll enjoy this place. Your friends will also envy you for it too haha xD. Whenever I’m not working in the lab, I’m usually hiking or going to the beach. My only criticism is that things can get a bit too slow sometimes, and unless you’re majoring in the sciences, the school is not really known too well for anything else besides ethnic studies, sadly.

Laringa: So what’s good, we making a facebook page for transfers or what?? All I’m waiting for is for UCSB to reject me and financial aid to come out, so I can SIR. :P
