UC Santa Cruz Transfer Decisions 2013

@courtneyduh
I applied as a socio major too…My GPA is 3.4…have to wait and see!!!

Congrats Clue! Is UCSC your first choice?

I thought they only sent out decision between 12 am and 12pm?

Quite a few people got their decisions earlier during the first batch, so I suppose it’s more of an upper bound.

@mermaker Not my first choice but still really happy I got in

@rockigirl I guess not I check throughout the day and I got in around 11pm

After relying on these threads for so many years, I figure that I have an obligation to give back. Created an account just for this.

Was admitted with the March 17th batch.

Strengths: Extracurriculars, three years of original research, strong personal statement.
Weaknesses: “Bad” grades early in community college career. Some ups and downs. (Academically renewed…however, this still left some C’s here and there.)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Unique and impressive extracurriculars/original research. Obvious potential and dedication demonstrated despite early setbacks…for example, I took eight academic classes one semester (at two schools) and got a 4.0.

I still don’t know my GPA, but

Congrats to all that got accepted!

I still haven’t heard anything =( They don’t release decisions on the weekends, do they?

Accepted today

Reflection

Strengths: Upward trend, EC’s, Work and Volunteer exp.
Weaknesses: Had a very rough start at CC, low GPA, missing many prereq’s, essay was last minute
Why you think you were accepted: No idea. I would guess the upward trend. I am completely shocked because I applied on a whim. I was also rejected to SJSU and SFSU for an impacted major (Nutrition).

General Comments: I am very thankful that I now have another option to consider (have only been admitted to CSU Sacramento so far).

Anyone know how you can check which major you were admitted under?

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
First generation college student coming from a pretty screwed up background. I’m not very smart, but I think that I presented my situation very well in my personal statement.

Accepted today

Ok guys I have a question.
I just got submitted to UC Santa Cruz for fall 2013 and I have a question about a class that I am taking at a community college. I just need to complete one required class for the major cognitive science. I am wondering if I receive a grade lower than C, does my admission get denied or what are my options I need to look at?

@pupstar90
A D or F will most likely get your offer rescinded. I would talk to them to see if you can get away with withdrawing instead.

@novalord2
So this class I am taking is a required class. So what happens if I withdraw it?

@pupstar90

Probably the same thing if you failed it. If the class is not absolutely needed (some pre-reqs can be taken there) then its better to withdraw than to fail (which is basically an auto-reject). I would ask them.
