UC Santa Cruz vs. Chapman University?

I have been accepted to both UCSC and Chapman for economics. I personally feel that they are neck and neck in my evaluations. How would you guys compare these institutions?

What do you plan to study? Have you visited both campuses?

UCSC economics has a more mathematical and liberal arts emphasis.

Chapman economics is under the business division there, and has a less mathematical and more pre-professional emphasis.

Net price at each school?

I’ve been accepted for economics and I have, I live quite close to Santa Cruz as a matter of fact

Santa Cruz is just over 10K a year I believe (I’m in-state) and Chapman is just over 40K. Quite a large price difference, however I’m lucky to come from a place where money is not really an issue. I don’t really know what I want to do yet, I just happen to really enjoy economics and I know that its quite a useful degree in a variety of fields. Which would be the better pick for that mindset?

Did you get a lot of scholarships or financial aid at UCSC?

In any case, a $30,000 per year difference is $120,000 over four years. It seems unlikely that Chapman would be worth that much more (if it is worth more at all for you).

No scholarships for either, in state tuition for the UCs is between 10-15K, Chapman is around 40K in general.
