Were you waitlisted at UCSC? Here is a board for you. Discuss.
I haven’t been around the boards much this year, but my granddaughter was waitlisted for UCSC so I thought I’d get one kicked off for everyone.

D21 was unsure about opting into the UCSC waitlist, since SLO is her top choice. I told her that if she’s unsure, then just opt in and see what happens. And she has.
Hello,
Thank you for starting this thread. My D was waitlisted too. She accepted the waitlist offer, but I wonder how it will pan out this year since there was obviously a large increase of applicants. I’m hoping she clears it though🤞🏼
My D also accepted wait list. We shall see.
My son accepted a spot on the waitlist at both UCSC and Cal Poly. Good luck to everyone wherever they land.
I found the 2020 Waitlist numbers for UCSC: Edited since the original numbers were from the UC Conference and since have changed based on the CDS:
Number of applicants offered waitlist: 16484
Number of applicants opting into the waitlist: 10370
Number admitted: 8870
Looks encouraging. Thank you for providing the 2020 numbers
my son WL also for CS. also WL at UCSD. hoping to get in one of these two schools! not sure how many they will take off the WLs though. this year has been crazy!!!
does ucsc take LOCI?
If you are waitlisted and want to send an LOCI, you would do that through an appeal. All you can do is opt into the waitlist. Any other documentation needs to be submitted through an appeal.
**If you have new or compelling information, you may appeal the decision, whether or not you are on the waitlist. Appeal procedures can be found on UCSC’s Appeal Information page. Please note that if there is nothing new or compelling, an appeal may not be appropriate. If your senior year grades have gone down, or if you have already earned a grade of D or F in any ‘a-g’ course in your senior year, an appeal will not be granted.
If you plan to appeal your admission decision, you should still accept your place on the waitlist. If your appeal is approved, you will be offered admission. If your appeal is denied, you will remain on the waitlist, and you will have the same likelihood as before of eventually being offered admission. **
thank you so much for making this!! ucsc was my dream school and i got waitlisted, so i will greatly appreciate the updates💗
It is my D’s dream school too. She is majoring in English/Creative Writing. We think UCSC is a great fit for her.
My daughter is also on the WL. It is so hard to try to make plans without knowing if this will be an option for her.
As a waitlisted student, you should consider it a rejection and consider the schools where you have been accepted. There is no telling when the waitlisted students will be notified and you need to SIR by May 1 to one college.
My daughter got waitlisted too and will opt in, however not appeal. So I guess now we wait…
For all waitlisted applicants. Here is an article that might be of interest. I suggest you read it over and hopefully all questions will be answered.
Great read! Just secured my D’s spot at another college. Thank you for the article.
Did everyone on the waitlist get an email today saying:
Since you are a potential new Banana Slug who may be joining us in fall 2021, we wanted to pass along this important announcement
I did. Parent of a waitlister.
I did too.
