Don’t worry guys, as the UCD, UCI, UCSD, and maybe even some other private/OOS school waitlist results come, people who are currently committed to UCSC will likely go there, especially if it’s another UC since education quality/brand name will likely be better and then spots will open up for us.
As I mentioned in an earlier comment here, it has happened. Someone got off the waitlist at ucsd and just said goodbye to ucsc like that.

Thanks all! New to posting but have been checking here (secretly) for a while and found it quite comforting and a good source of info so I don’t have to bring it up to my son. My S is on waitlist at ucsc and while we don’t talk about it, it’s on all our minds. He did really well on his SATs but had a grade fall in one class last year that may have really hurt him. I’m a little worried about this afternoon as I have a completely unfounded theory that they deliver bad news late Sunday so as not to spoil the weekend. Not even sure if they reject or just accept from the waitlist. This is just really tough stuff. Good luck all and happy mother’s day!

I really do not see why they would release anything today but considering the waitlist may not be ranked. He has the same chance

Have people actually been rejected from the waitlist or is this false?
A couple people have posted that their friends have been rejected from the waitlist but we don’t know for certain
I emailed a representative from the admissions office asking for an ETA.

I’m stalking this thread, too. My son is waiting to hear back from UCSC. It’s his first choice so it’s hard to make plans for the fall. He’s making plans but has to be ready to drop them quickly if taken off the wait list.
