UC Santa Cruz Waitlist Thread 2018

Son rejected, but not dejected…he’s excited to go to Seattle University, which was his top choice until he visited UCSC. And to the parent who is upset that her daughter’s slot might have gone to an out-of-state person, an international, or an undocumented person, and suggested a class action suit, just don’t go there. I mean, sure, it stings that your daughter won’t go to UCSC, but unless you are an admissions officer, you just don’t know what the other person’s story is. Perhaps they wrote an achingly beautiful personal essay, perhaps they didn’t have the grades, but started several non-profits, perhaps they can throw a 90-mile-an-hour fast ball, perhaps there was something so compelling about their application that the admission committee said, “you know, we’re going to give this kid a second chance.”
Hopefully your daughter has many choices and will be very happy at the school she sent her SIR to. Congrats to all who got in, and the best of good wishes and luck to all at your new schools.

@Collgbrwsr no one has gotten in yet, we’re still on the waitlist

Also, now that UCSC has rejected people, they probably have an idea of who is gonna get off the waitlist, or at least what the accept/reject schedule is going to be like.

So if anyone who is still waitlisted could call them up tomorrow and say that your friends got rejected from the waitlist (I mean come on, we’re all friends here, aren’t we?) and were wondering if they could provide a time-table or insight on the remaining waitlisted applicants, that would be dope.

I thought there were a couple people several pages back who said they - or someone they knew - got in. Of course, this being the Internet, and trolls being abundant, we don’t know if they really did. Anyway, vinashana, I hope you get in…fingers crossed! The fact that you haven’t heard yet is a good sign, I think!

@vinashana
UCSB did something similar, they sent out a batch of rejections and kept some on their waitlist, but they ended up sending all rejecteds later.

It seems like UCSB released very limited number of acceptances before sending out rejections.

Things are so unpredictable this year.
Good luck to everyone who are still waiting!

r.i.p.

well i still have hope for us!

ucsd hasn’t touched their freshman waitlist, berkeley is still going through appeals and waitlists, and of course there are other colleges out of the uc system as well.

even ucr is yet to release all waitlist results and who knows, some ucsc peeps might choose ucr over ucsc

Rejected. At least I’m not waiting anymore tho…good luck too everyone who is still on the waitlist!

Rejected off waitlist. Headed to UCLA this Fall. Very weird, because I was rejected by UCSD, UCSD, UCSB, and waitlisted at UCSC, but got in to UCLA. Oh well, God works in mysterious ways and I’m excited to be a Bruin!

Best of luck to you! I went to UCLA and loved it. You will too! Very interesting how things worked out.

Beegmama Thank you very much! And yes very interesting indeed.

DD rejected today too. Going to Sonoma State–have to believe these things happen for a reason!

do you recieve an email if you are admitted off the waitlist?

Just received an status update email saying that I’m neither accepted nor rejected and that while it’s possible more acceptances will be coming, I’ll have an answer by early June. Anyone else get this email?

got it too fam

Got the same email. They said that they accepted students off of the waitlist though. Has any in-state high school students been accepted because I have only seen transfers and OOS students which is really frustrating?

I received it as well

Is it possible to appeal a waitlist denial?

I highly doubt it since it is a yield issue not the quality of applicant

did anyone else’s confirmation of joining the waitlist message in the admissions messages part of the portal dissapear

Just checked it a second ago and it has not disappeared.

@jackattack825 still there for me
