if possible, could you please take a screenshot of the application status page on your portal, blur out your personal info, upload it to imgur, and send the link here?
My portal still says, “thanks for opting into the waitlist, we’ll update you if space arrives” despite me getting that email from them saying I got rejected.
@vinashana Sorry, my portal says the exact same thing and I got the same exact email. I’m going to Cal State Long Beach in the fall, then hoping to transfer to a UC in two years. Hopefully I won’t have to go through the same ordeal again…

Keep in mind, it will be harder to transfer from a CalState to a UC rather than community college than UC.
Oh, and if our portals say the same thing tomorrow afternoon, we can call up the admissions office
My son received notice that he was not accepted. He will be deciding between Willamette in Oregon, where he could continue swimming competitively, a year in Japan studying Japanese, or local community college (he could swim for them too.)

Each school seems to handle this situation differently.
UCI never sent my son an e-mail on his waitlist decision after his portal changed.
If he was not checking his portal regularly, he would be thinking he was on their waitlist still.
His portal said “Waitlist is closed”, nothing else.
No e-mail of any kind(he checks each folder including spam all the time).
@hoppy1 but this situation is the complete opposite.
It sometimes makes me want to think that they sent that email to us on accident. I’ve moved on and have other plans for this fall, but idk why they would not update our portal.

@DildoDino I tried but it was ringing forever and I was tight on time. We can try emailing them though
I know it is opposite, that is why I wrote the comment. Some schools might not even update their portals after sending e-mails , some schools might not send e-mails after updating their portals , and some schools might do both.
Hopefully someone can talk to the admissions directly to make sure those e-mails were not sent out by accident.
One person on CC whose appeal was pending got off the waitlist at UCI on 6/4 after their waitlist was closed, so you never know.

I am completely happy with my current university. However, I will try calling up UCSC tomorrow again just in case to see if it was really an accident.
