Been lurking around for a while now and finally decided to make a profile.
I am interested in double majoring in psychology and political science. I currently hold a 3.76 gpa. Lately I have been really thinking of applying to Santa Cruz. I've always like the town and I find it to be a very peaceful campus.

I want to attend law school after but if I dont, I dont want to be shooting myself in the foot by not going to a Cal or a UCLA or a UCSD. Would anybody be able to tell me a bit more about the academics? Is it a reputable school? Any other information you guys feel would be relevant would be appreciated.

I applied to UCSB, UCSC, and Cal all for Econ. Cal has a top 10 program, SB has a top 40 program and SC is somewhere in the 70s. I’ll get into SC and SB, but even If I got into Cal I think id go to UCSC. Their academics are underrated. If you want a comparison to other UC’s it is better then Riverside or Merced. Somewhat comparable to SB, Irvine, or Davis (comparable don’t yell at me yet haha) Certainly not Cal or LA. However, it is your undergrad and you should be fine.

UCSC is just too beautiful to pass up. So yes I say go for it as I am making the same decision myself hah.

Of course it’s a reputable school. It’s not that UCSC isn’t a good school(it certainly is), it’s just that California has a lot of good schools.
