UC schools and in-state tuition.

:c huum. So I can use a car under my mom’s name, without having a separate insurance?

Ahh. ;_; I couldn’t comprehend what you were saying about financial aid. Sorry! I know that my own income will be on the next FASFA. If I get financial aid, would that count as my income too? ;x …or is receiving any fin aid considered not being self sufficient.

Financial aid does not count as income on the FAFSA. BUT YOUR income that supports you WILL count. How much would you need to earn to pay rent, utilities, food, insurance, clothing, college costs (minus your financial aid), and any OTHER expenses you might have? I would think that you would have to earn a decent income to support yourself. Living expenses in CA are not cheap. My daughter shares a house with 6 others and HER share is $650 a month just for rent and utilities.

And check to make sure you can establish residency when your purpose for being in the state is to attend college. Just make sure.

So whatever financial aid didn’t cover, that’s what I’ll have to pay. Mkay. :c I actually found some pretty cheap rents where my Aunt lives (Vacaville), like $300-400 for a room including utilities…she’ll charge me the median price I suppose.

I can’t if I only want to be there for college, though I truly do want to live in the state. I just also want to attend a UC school and graduate young lol.

does being financially independent mean even paying for out-of-state tuition by yourself while you’re trying to get residency?

Yes, financially independent means just that: 100% independent, including the OOS portion of tuition/fees at a public college.
