UC Schools Citizenship Admission

Hey people!
I was wondering if UC schools favor US citizens over international students.
Does this only apply to CA residents? Or are they now preferring internationals in search of money…

The University of California system is funded by California taxpayers. Which means that the schools have an obligation to accept students from California since the residents are funding the system.

If you are an international student and have high SAT’s, ACT’s and are high performing in everything, the UC’s may accept you and your money. If you are from an overrepresented country like India and China, you have less of a chance of acceptance. You won’t receive any financial aid so assume fees of $55K per year IF you are even considered for acceptance.

Why would you think that an American public university would not “favor” their own residents?

Ah Thanks for the clarification.
It’s just a rumor I heard. I know that American public universities would favor their own residents.
But do you think UC Schools would also favor non-resident citizens? Cuz I heard (may also be a rumor beh) they would would internationals and non-residents at the same tier…

“Favor” is the wrong term to use, because obviously the state favors their own residents. UC’s receives applications from international students and looks objectively at the international applicants. If you can pay your own way, it helps, but it doesn’t give you an “advantage” over other students.
