UC sending invitation to attend school

Hello everyone
I recently applied to UCI and UCLA and got rejected. I have been receiving letters from other campuses such as UCM, UCR, and UCSC to apply to their school. I guess it’s some sort of invitation?
This is what I received from UCSC. I never applied to these school so I was curious if my application was passed around and what that meant for me as a student. I wrote in one of my essays that I had a few patents under my name and I wonder if that is what sparked an interest.

"I‘m happy to learn of your interest in attending the University of California. Although you were not offered admission to any of the UC campuses to which you originally applied, if your goal is to earn a UC degree, I’d like to invite you to submit a late application to the Santa Cruz campus, located on the Central Coast overlooking the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Your application appears strong, and we may offer you an opportunity to enroll, if we determine that your academic and extracurricular accomplishments are a good match with our admitted students. "

Are you an Out of State or International applicant?

I am in state

Since the UC’s capped the # of OOS/International admitted students, campuses such as UCM, UCR and UCSC have made a concerted effort to attract these type of applicants if they did not get into their choice UC’s so that is why I asked if your were OOS or International. Since you are in-state but a transfer based on your other posts, perhaps they also have spots open and are not at capacity for major. If you are interested, I would definitely take UCSC or the other campuses up on their offer.
