UC Socially Dead?--Help!

Help your girl out: I’m moving to UCSD in a month to start my freshman year and I’m really excited. It was my #2 school, and I chose it for its academic prowess and its proficiency in the sciences. I will admit, I’m super anxious about the social scene there since it has a reputation for being somewhat dead. I’ve never been a big partier, but it’s something I really want to dabble in, especially during welcome week. You only go to college once, right? I’m even considering rushing if it means it’ll save me from social isolation, but I’m not sure. So someone please tell me the ins and outs of partying at UCSD. I know it can be doable if you wanna find it, but I’m really not sure how. I feel so clueless, help!

It’s more dead than USC for sure. This is one reason my kid’s sister suggested her sister to join sorority. But according to kid #1 because kid#2 doesn’t tell me, she found her parties particular freshman year. I’m not sure she parties that much any more. But I had to tell kid #1 to stop buying alcohol for kid #2. They were sneaking without my knowledge. So I know there were parties.

You can definitely find parties! But if you don’t want to go to the trouble of looking for them and rushing is a viable option, rush. The real difference between UCSD and more socially noteworthy schools is that UCSD parties don’t really come to you; not having a row (yet) is part of the reason.
Welcome week: they’re definitely out there. It might help to make upperclassmen friends

Lol we’re practically the same person
If you find any parties, help a girl out <3

The way the university is “physically” laid out tends to diminish lots of social party access. The Price Center area is not really conducive for parties because it is mostly foods and library traffic, no real dorms in that area.
Many students have to live off campus because campus housing is limited.
