Is moving to my new college for doing a 4 unit course over summer stupid? My college has 2 summer sessions. During the first session I would do a 4 unit course, and the second, a 7 unit course. Is this doable? Also, is there anything to do at the UCs over summer? Will it be weird living on campus over summer?

Which UC will this be?

It will be a good experience and transition living on campus. I highly recommend doing that. I am also taking summer school ( 8 units per summer session). I think it will be doable since during the summer you can spend much more time on the course. I might also work part time or work study over the summer to pay for some of the rent. if youre doing 11 units of the summer and are kind of behind to finish in 2 years, then yeah it’s worth it. ( given that you do well in them). Choose some okay courses and see how the professors are. Most of the professors over the summer are from community colleges or are part time ( at least thats what I heard at the UC ill be taking summer classes at)

If there is a seven-unit course involved, it is not UCSB as far as I know. But at UCSB, I found that a 12-unit course group during a 6-week summer session has approximately the same workload as a 16- to 18-unit set of courses during the regular academic terms, which is very manageable.

I am not sure yet which school, but maybe irvine…haven’t heard back yet from other schools

I’m planning on taking Classics 20 at UCLA and AN EA 15 (1 for each session).

I’d take at least 1 class so you can get a head start and begin familiarizing yourself with the UC system as well as the campus of the UC you’re attending. There’s a program called “Transfer summer start” at UCI where you’ll be taking this transfer orientation course and 1 other class

Don’t sign up until you have the UC school’s id that you’re planning to go to! You get cheaper tuition!
