So I only got into UC Merced and because most of my privates are reaches, I’m pretty sure I’ll have to attend there. Not that there’s anything wrong with Merced, but I was hoping for a little more options at least :)

Any other similar stories? Or am I the only one in this leaky boat.

the only UC i got into was merced, also. i think it’s likely that i might end up there. if so, i think i’ll transfer to another UC in 2 years. but i’m also planning on appealing to some other campuses since there is nothing to lose.

This isn’t really a serious threat right now (more humorous tbh), but merced especially is on thin ice. I think you’d be better off doing the CC transfer program if you’re set on transferring. Remember that transfers are not a sure path and it’s easy to get sidetracked, just keep your eye on the prize.

@joylove, I am hearing a lot of complaints on my UC admissions blog about “all-around” rejections. So there are definitely a lot of students out there in the same boat.

@ADHDFTL, if you read the article, you will see that,“Officials at UC Merced and the University Office of the President passed the idea off as an improbable course of action crafted by employees upset by impending pay cuts.”

Your odds are better when transfering from a community college to a UC, due to cc transfers given priority over UC to UC transfers. So, if you don’t want to attend UCM, then go the cc transfer route.
