<p>So with the recent budget cuts in the UC system and the general instability of the state of California itself, how affected are the schools?</p>
<p>Most specifically UCSB, is it looking grim for incoming freshman regarding academic quality and opportunity?</p>
<p>I don’t know about UCSB particularly but I do think that students entering the UC system now are going to face a lot of frustration, particularly in the social sciences and humanities.</p>
<p>College is still what you make of it though. My advice to perspective undergrads is to choose a college because it’s a great fit, not solely because it’s a UC (even Berkeley or UCLA).</p>
<p>UCSB mentioned cutting back on student services back in September during the counselor conference.</p>
