Hello. I'm transferring to UC Davis in 2012. I just looked at the tag update, and it says that you have to be a full time student from spring 2011-spring 2012 (exceptions possible). However, I am a part time student this spring semester. I will be a full time student for now on until transfer. Will my TAG be denied because of this?

I am part time as well and looking xfer in 2012, where did you see this information? I thought if you had 60 units/IGETC and the GPA you could TAG, I didn’t know that being part time could affect TAG??!

here’s the source:

I know dude, I’m freaking out!

Davis will deny your TAG due to this stipulation.

They denied me when I applied (only had 8 units).

SD and SB, which does not have this requirement, accepted my TAG.

they do have exceptions possible for people who have jobs, etc etc.

I was working part time!

<didn’t want=“” to=“” go=“” there=“” anyways!=“”>
<i went=“” all=“” “screw=”" davis,=“” they=“” wouldn’t=“” tag=“” me!“=”" when=“” i=“” was=“” applying=“” to=“” ucs.=“”></didn’t>
<i went=“” all=“” “screw=”" davis,=“” they=“” wouldn’t=“” tag=“” me!“=”" when=“” i=“” was=“” applying=“” to=“” ucs.=“”>

I guess I won’t worry too much then since I work full time and am going to TAG for UCSD? That is an odd stipulation to me though, why would they do that?

Thanks for posting the link for the info.

You should be fine on the part-time student front.

Like I said, I only took 8 units when I did my TAG.

@alazyguy: really?! did you tell your counselor and the Davis rep about working full time?
dude, I feel so lost now LOL.

I was told by the lady in our transfer center that us 2012 xfers can only TAG one school, then I was filling out the TAG app and it has options to select more than one, do you guys have any more info on that?

@ USN_Transfer: I believe that is true. I read about it on the UC Davis TAG FAQ. Let me send you the link.

[UC Davis : TAG FAQ](Transfer Admission Guarantee)

That’s correct, they changed it so that you can only TAG to one school.

Not sure why you can do two. TAG applications are open already? O.o

And reread what I said in regards to working. :P

You can start working on it you just can’t submit it yet, I have a lot of course work to enter in there so I wanted to get an early start on it…

@vikram I said I work full time, alazyguy said he worked part time and was rejected

Yeah, I’m getting started on it too. It’s also a great way to plan your schedule.
I’ll call UC Davis about this dilemma. I’m only 17 and some family issues with my sister caused me to take responsibility for her since my parents work nights. LOL anyways, I’ll do something about it. Thanks everyone!

any more replies would be nice too :)

Well they do allow exceptions so I hope you can get it worked out, are you 17 and going to CC? Did you do the GED route? Will you have 60 units done by the spring 2012? Just curious cus you are so young.

Thanks! I’ll work it out I took the CHSPE. (California High School Proficiency Exam)
It’s equal to a HS diploma, by law. It’s basically a higher form of a GED, it isn’t as looked down upon LOL. I’ll have 64 units done by Spring 2012, with 5 AP credits and 59 CCC credits.

Oh ok, I’ve been out of HS for a while now so I haven’t heard of the CHSPE, but it looks like you have accomplished a lot in a short amount of time, good job!

I hope Davis will take your circumstances into consideration b/c that rule just seems pointless to me if you have all of the other requirements met!

lol, more like CHSPE isn’t as known.

Even the UC applications didn’t mention it. :P

Oh, I took it 4.5 years ago.

lol that is true.
when i’d tell people I took the CHSPE, they’d be like “what?”.

alazyguy: did you have any problems with UC’s and the CHSPE? I doubt you did since you got admitted to UCSD.
