UC TAG - pass/no pass

I’m a California community college student planning on applying to UC Irvine’s Computer Science major through the TAG program. I have to take a calculus course for major preparation before I transfer. Will my TAG be denied if I choose to take the class for pass/no pass only?

You must take major required courses for a letter grade. (Rare exceptions noted on assist allow for a P/NP.) This is not one of the rare exceptions. Not only will you lose the TAG, you will be rejected outright from the CS major because you did not take the course for a letter grade. The only maybe potential way around it is Calc 1 P, and then Calc 2 with a letter grade, but Calc 2 would need to be completed by end of this fall because they don’t calculate spring grades during the application time frame. Best practice to be competitive is not mess with any P/NP.

Also noted on assist for CS at UCI:
PLEASE NOTE: For Fall 2019 applicants, a minimum grade of B will be required in
all major prerequisite courses.

P/NP registers as C.

Thanks.
