Hi there was just wondering if I have to submit an application in order to know if my TAG was accepted. (I know I have to submit anyways but I was just wondering because I haven’t received any email saying if I was accepted or rejected from TAG)
Not all UC’s will tell you if your TAG is accepted until they review your Fall grades for their admission decisions. You did submit your TAG application in September? And you will submit your UC application by November 30th correct?
Yes I submitted in September and am planning on submitting my application. I had no idea that some UC’s don’t notify whether the TAG is accepted or not. Thank you for replying! Do you know if UCR sends out emails for TAG?
This is what I found out about TAG for UCR:
Please note that UCR will review your TAG application when we review your admissions application. When you submit your admissions application, be sure to check that you have a TAG with UCR on the “Agreements with Other Campuses” section. This will flag your admissions application and we will review your application first and provide you with an early admissions decision in the month of March."
I just received an email to check my TAG status today. It basically says to apply to UCR and to make sure to put that I applied for the TAG agreement & to follow the rest of the contract. I hope this means I am good. Thank you for taking the time to help me.
Also, was it mandatory to have my TAG application checked by my counselor? They just told me to go ahead and submit it, but I never went back to have them check it. I am sure everything I put is correct, just seen some people saying that it was mandatory?
This is what they said:
“Thank You for submitting your TAG to UC Riverside; ranked 1st in the nation based on metrics of graduation rate,
affordability and financial aid available to students by Time Magazine, UC Riverside has a reputation for extraordinary
diversity, superior value, groundbreaking research and graduates who succeed.
Please complete the “Next Steps” to ensure your admission guarantee for fall 2018.
Next Steps:
• Apply to UC Riverside at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/apply-online/
during the November 1-30, 2017 priority application period for fall 2018.
• Indicate your TAG submission to UC Riverside on the UC transfer application. Remember that your
transfer admission guarantee is only applicable for the primary major you indicated on your TAG form.
• Complete 60 semester/90 quarter UC-transferable units by the end of spring 2018.
• Complete the second UC-transferable English course with a grade of C or better by the end of spring
2018.
• Applicants to non-selecting majors must complete the minimum UC-Math course with a grade of C or
better by the end of fall 2017.
• Complete all required UC admission coursework, including major preparation (if applicable) for your
chosen major by the end of spring 2018. View major preparation requirements at www.assist.org
• Maintain the minimum overall GPA required for the major you selected through the end of spring 2018.
• Complete the Academic Update Request by January 31, 2018. You must provide your final grades from
the previous term and list all courses in progress or planned for the term before you expect to
enroll. Even if you do not have any in-progress or planned courses and your record of course grades
was complete in your original application, you must log in to your application and complete the
Transfer Academic Update.
Please note that as a TAG applicant, you will receive priority evaluation of your UC application.
UC Riverside will notify you of your transfer admission decision beginning in March 2018. Students
who do not meet UC Riverside’s TAG criteria may still be competitive for admission to UC Riverside
as a general transfer applicant. If, for any reason, you are unable to meet the conditions of the
TAG criteria, an offer of admission will depend on your completion of transfer admission
requirements and selectivity in the applicant pool.
Thank you for submitting your TAG application to UC Riverside and we hope to see YOU in the fall!”
Does this mean my TAG was approved?
@Gumbymom any idea where we’d find the ‘agreements with other campuses’ section?
@melissssssssa i got that too!!
I feel like it just means ‘keep up the good work and indicate you TAG’ed UCR on your actual application’, but I could be wrong.
@ayylmaoooo You tagged UCR too? I think it means that too! But in that case what would be the point of tagging and applying if we still don’t know if our TAG is accepted or rejected.
The point of TAGing is that if you complete everything required by Spring 2018, you are accepted. Again all this is provisional so even if they accept your TAG now, if you do not meet the requirements by the time you enroll for Fall 2018, your TAG can be rescinded.
@ayylmaoooo: Just look up TAG requirements for each UC by Googling it.
There is also the TAG matrix with links.

@melissssssssa yeah and i got the same message! so congrats to both of us?
@Gumbymom
I was referring to when you wrote
“When you submit your admissions application, be sure to check that you have a TAG with UCR on the ‘Agreements with Other Campuses’ section.”
I cant seem to find the ‘agreements with other campuses’ section on the actual application.
@ayylmaoooo yes congrats!
@Gumbymom yes I can’t seem to find that section either? Would you know where it’s located?
That statement about “Agreements with Other Campuses” was on last year’s TAG application. It looks like it was removed for this year. Sorry if I caused you some concern.
Do you know how they would know that we submitted a TAG?
