OK! This really ISN'T that serious! I think that all Ponderosa and Nspeds were getting at is the fact that there are so many popular UC threads, that the rest seem to be getting lost. Not everyone is framiliar with the "bump" procedure.

We all understand that the transfer process is important/stressful/emotional/pain in the ass/insane/insert word of choice here. No one is taking away from that..I'm sure in time the Ivies and other schools will dominate (I mean NYU and UVa have been putting up a fight lately..hehe). The UC threads have been slightly dominating is all..maybe there would be some way to condense or something? I don't know..just..

EVERYONE TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND RELAX!! We're all going through the same thing right now, no matter where we are!

sure, the same goes for non uc threads.

But not as much as the UCs.

a reason why new threads covering old topics happens is because people may be "unaware of the archives".

I am not complaining of starting new threads on old topics, I am complaining about how current posters are starting useless threads, since they can be subsumed by other threads; I am also somewhat annoyed at the UVA applicants for nearly approaching the same level.

I do not see what the big deal is. Why is the prospect of having two forums so ridiculous? I think the transfer forum can be approximately divided into two categories: UC, and non-UC transfers. Is the idea really that imprudent and revolting? Not only would such a division make pertinent information more accessible, but it would also keep the two groups from getting at each other's throats (ie. this thread).

Further bolstering the case: I just looked on the main page and counted the number of UC to non UC posts. UC won by one, 11 to 9. I will grant that these numbers maybe skewed because of the time, but I think it underlies an almost palpable tendency. What real reason is there against vying for a division of boards? I am sure there is support on both sides.

This is all silly. My point was simply that there are a lot of uc transfer students here (enough to rally for a specialized transfer forum) and that you can't blame them for using the boards (which exist solely for this purpose) during a period that's obviously really important to everyone. It hasn't always been this crazy, and it wont be for very much longer (until next november, at least). A little patience and understanding would be much appreciated on everyone's behalf.

And before anyone misunderstands me, I meant boards which exist for the purpose of communicating with other transfer students and sharing anxieties. Not those which exist solely for the anxieties of UC transfer students.

Amazing...smart enough to get into such great schools....yet, not wise enough to walk away.

You should be celebrating, not giving into such disonnance!
It was interesting...no doubt.

I'm new to CC (only 2 weeks, I believe) and while it's been a lot of fun, I was not aware of the protocol until this thread brought a little of it to my attention. I would chalk it up to it being a very exciting day for some and them getting carried away and not knowing any better......

I admit there are some useless and redundant threads, but the sheer volume of UC posts means there will be a few, especially on the specific days they post decisions. If you thought today was bad, wait till Friday. We'll be able to make new redundant threads all weekend long. =P Hey, we DID keep 1200 posts and counting in one thread! I don't see any problem with having a forum for UCs only; it will keep them all nicely organized for me to find.
