UC to CC to UC question

Hello College Confidential! First time posting here.

I attended UCR for 2 quarters and due to a lot of family problems back home (father passed away), I spiraled into pretty bad depression and had a 2.1 cumulative GPA. I left after the Winter Quarter of 2011 and for the past 2 years have finished all my major pre-reqs and GE's with a 4.0 at community colleges and am planning to apply to schools this Fall.

If I transfer to a UC will I start off with my GPA from UCR? Information would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry about your loss, may he rest in peace.

From what I learned, when you transfer from a CC your GPA is wiped and you start over. However, I believe your UC GPA does not change. I’m going with the information I learned from UC-to-UC transfer, where you come in with your UC GPA instead of it being wiped like the CC students.
So, my greatest advice would be to contact the advising department at UCR and ask them for a direct answer. =)
