UC to UC transfer or CCC?

Hi, I know I made a similar thread like this but I really don't know what I am going to do.
I go to UCR right now. my gpa is around 3.9 trying to transfer to UCSD or UCI (manageral econ or business econ). I don't mind staying at R for another year but I really don't want to spend 3 more years at ucr.....

That's why I was thinking about going back to CC this coming summer but, I realized it is really competitive to get into IGETC classes because of the budget crisis. Also, I got into honors program for sophomore year. Is that gonna be also helping me out as well?

So what do you guys think? UC to UC or going back to CC?

i was at ucsb for a year and then left for CCC and it all worked out for me. I was able to transfer in one year and finished IGETC and all my prereqs. As long as you plan everything in advance you should be fine.

i’d recommend staying at ucr another year, even though you probably hate riverside.
from personal experience this year, i got into UCSD, UCSC, and UCLA and i’m currently at UC Merced. so i believe the UCs realize it’s harder to maintain a stellar GPA at a UC opposed to a CCC when evaluating applications.
however, business is a competitive major wherever you apply, so i really don’t believe going to a CCC for one year will give you any significant advantage

can anyone help me out…?

I remember speaking to UC reps in high school and they always said that CC students were more highly considered for acceptance than UC students during the transfer application process because CC students show a commitment to transferring to another UC. I’m sure that won’t stop you from being accepted if you decide to stay at UCR, but it’s just something to consider. I had no issue completing my IGETC this year. Classes are impacted but if I agree with JetForce, as long as you plan ahead you’ll get it done. Plus, CCs have articulation agreements with all of the UCs, so you can make sure that the classes you’re taking will transfer to the UC of your choice. If you haven’t noticed there have been quite a few posts from students being rejected because the classes taken at their UC will not transfer to the UC they applied to. I would contact and admissions office at UCSD or UCI and ask for their advice, though.
