I’m trying to transfer from UCSB to another UC (UCLA, UCSD, UCI), and I got all the course equivalency for the pre-reqs in each school. However, the requirements that UCSB and other UC has are slightly different. Do I have to finish all the pre-reqs before applying (which will be Fall 2015)? If not, will taking more pre-reqs before Fall 2015 higher my chances of getting in or does it not matter? My GPA so far is 3.9, and am trying to keep it as high as possible. The major I am going for is not impacted in any of those schools.
You need to complete the pre-reqs required at the uc to which you hope to transfer. It won’t matter if you finish them in spring 2016. If the requirements are recommended, you can probably safely forego one or more if unavailable at UCSB (if that is part of what you’re asking).
@lindyk8 Thank you (: I will for sure have completed my pre-reqs for the school that I am planning on attending, just not by Fall 2015. But I was just wondering because all UCtoUC transfer forums say that you should try getting as many completed and I wasn’t sure if it was implying that the more pre-reqs for the new school by Fall will bring up the chances of getting admitted.
No you should be fine re major pre-reqs. Just make sure that math reasoning req and the english reqs are done by fall (or at least one of the English). I assume you have that math req the same as the CCCs.
@lindyk8 phew thank you!! do you know if a course I will take at a community college over the summer will transfer over to the school that I’m applying for? It says it does on ASSIST, but just wondering if you knew anything about that.
I’m not sure how they transfer your official transcripts UC to UC but they will need them by July 1 and will only include through spring term. After you you finish summer school at the CCC, you send that transcript separately.
